Berthon is looking for an experienced Yacht painter/ supervisor to lead our team of highly skilled painters and their apprentices on private yacht, commercial and defence vessel projects in our modern purpose-built facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for painting and providing a quality finish.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces of a range of materials including GRP, metal and wood.
- Filling, fairing and masking to ensure top quality outcomes
- Experienced in the application of 2-pack paint systems including Alexseal, AkzoNobel and Jotun
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and dust-free facility
- Maintain spray facilities and equipment to high standards
- The ability to lead and mentor a team of painters and allocate resources effectively to ensure quality and budget targets are met
- Training and development of apprentices
- Follow health and safety guidelines and promote a culture that ensures a safe working environment at all times.
- Maintain records including – paint application and equipment maintenance logs
- Motivation of self and team
- Excellent knowledge and application of surface preparation processes
- Excellent knowledge and application of paints and varnishes using spray and brush techniques
- Proven Marine industry track record
- Reliable with excellent attendance and timekeeping record
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand project requirements and timelines.
