Digital Media Assistant - Berthon HQ in Lymington
Berthon International - Lymington, Hampshire 12-month Fixed-Term Contract, with the possibility of extension or a permanent role
Berthon International Yacht Brokers is looking for a creative, practical and self-motivated Digital Media Assistant to join our team in Lymington.
Reporting to Berthon International's Managing Director and our Digital Content Manager, you will work closely with our in Digital Content Manager / Photographer, supporting the day-to-day production and editing of brokerage photography, video and other digital content. This could mean editing in the office one day and being on a RIB helping to photograph or film a yacht at sea the next.
Social media will also form a large part of the role. You will turn existing photography, video and archive material into engaging content for our social channels, while identifying and creating new content opportunities.
We are looking for a self-starter who can spot opportunities, contribute ideas and take the initiative when appropriate. You should be comfortable working independently when required, while also taking direction and working closely with others on larger shoots and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with professional brokerage yacht photography, video, drone and sea-trial shoots, both ashore and on the water, and capture content independently when required.
- Edit and process photography and video for yacht listings, social media and other digital platforms, including simple yacht walkthroughs and short-form content.
- Organise and manage photography, video and digital assets from our UK and international brokerage offices.
- Manage and develop Berthon International's day-to-day social media content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other relevant platforms.
- Plan and schedule content, write copy, and create brokerage and behind-the-scenes content for our social channels.
- Work with brokers to identify new content opportunities and make creative use of our extensive photography and video archive.
- Monitor social media performance, engagement and trends, using analytics to help improve future content.
- Support the Berthon International podcast with research, planning, scheduling and the creation of clips and promotional content.
- Our current production workflow includes Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro. Experience with these is useful, although comparable professional software will also be considered.
What We're Looking For
You should have:
- Good practical photography and video skills, including confidently operating a camera manually, with an understanding of composition, light and visual storytelling.
- Experience editing photography and video to a high standard.
- A strong understanding of social media, digital content and what engages audiences.
- Strong written communication and the ability to produce engaging social copy.
- Good organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
- The ability to work independently, take creative direction and collaborate with others.
- A willingness to work outdoors and on the water in changing conditions, and to learn new equipment, software and production techniques.
Required
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Relevant professional experience and/or qualifications in photography, videography, digital media, social media, content creation or a related field.
- Demonstrable photography and video ability, with examples of previous creative work or a portfolio.
Marine or yachting experience, sailing or boating experience, RYA Powerboat Level 2, drone experience, audio production, SEO and analytics knowledge would all be advantageous.
This is primarily an office-based role at Berthon International in Lymington, but you won't always be behind a desk. You may travel to yacht listings, marinas and events and assist with shoots onboard yachts and RIBs. Sea trials and on-water photography can involve challenging weather and sea conditions, so you must be comfortable working around boats and remain safety-conscious.
Yacht brokerage is fast-moving, so you will need to be organised and adaptable, with priorities sometimes changing at short notice.
