Graduate Planning Consultant in Kettering

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team made up of surveyors, engineers, planners and architects. You will be part of a business which is big enough for a varied range of work and opportunities, yet small enough to provide autonomy and a chance to really get to know everyone, expanding your skills and building new connections.

Your role will sit within a team whose work ranges from applications and appeals to site promotions. Our projects span everything from self-build houses and rural diversification projects to strategic large-scale developments. You will have the opportunity to manage your own caseload of projects and develop specialist skills in areas you find particularly interesting.

Role Responsibilities

• Undertaking planning research, report writing and the preparation of planning submissions to support a wide range of client projects.
• Managing smaller planning applications and projects, whilst supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex developments.
• Preparing planning statements, appraisals and other professional reports.
• Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders throughout the planning process.
• Providing a high standard of client service to a diverse client base including householders, farmers, developers, investors and landed estates.
• Attending site visits and assisting with the provision of planning advice and recommendations.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across Berrys' planning, surveying, architectural and engineering teams to deliver integrated consultancy services.
• Developing professional knowledge and progressing towards RTPI membership through ongoing training and development opportunities.

Person Specification

• Undergraduate degree in town planning or a related subject (e.g. Geography).
• Desire to work towards Master's Degree/ Professional (RTPI) Qualifications.
• Confident manner and willingness to learn from others.
• Proactive and diligent.
• Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written English and problem-solving abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car.

We will support the right candidate through a Masters degree including day release to attend in person sessions and fund your attendance at relevant CPD events and approved training.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, to be worked flexibly Monday-Friday, in line with our Agile Working Philosophy.
