Berrycove Limited is seeking Production Assistants II with preferred direct experience working in advanced commercial hydroponic greenhouse environments, to join its expanding farming operations in Tobago, offering significant advancement opportunities. This is a unique opportunity for nationals of Trinidad & Tobago or CARICOM Certificate holders to be part of the regional initiative toward building food security through advanced AgTech. The Production Assistant II is a full-time role with a prime focus on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Sanitation. You will report to the Assistant Farm Manager through constant checkpoints throughout each working task.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in all crop planting and harvesting cycles.
- Manage and maintain the nursery area.
- Transplant crops from nursery areas to production systems and aid in harvesting material.
- Communicate resource needs to the Assistant Farm Manager as necessary to deliver desired results.
- Log activities, maintain propagation records, and compile periodic reports.
- Assist with sanitation and cleaning of equipment when needed.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in hydroponic crop production.
- Experience in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) is an asset.
- Experience in greenhouse operations, hydroponic system operation, and horticulture.
- Hands-on training with IPM, sanitation, and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Sciences, Hydroponic Agriculture preferred.
- Training and Certification in Hydroponics from a recognised institution is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships and motivate team members.
- Data record management and Inventory management.
- Time management and organization skills.
- Physical demands - Able to manage physical tasks such as loading and unloading, moving gardening supplies, medium to heavyweight tools and equipment, etc.
- Proficient in all MS Office applications with knowledge of plant recording databases.
