Berrycove Limited is seeking a Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Consultant with experience working in fresh food production and advanced commercial hydroponic greenhouse environments, to join its expanding farming operations in Tobago, offering significant advancement opportunities. While open to all applicants, this is a unique opportunity for CARICOM nationals to return home and be part of the regional initiative toward building food security through advanced AgTech.

As the QHSE Consultant, you would serve as the Subject Matter Expert for QHSE matters and would be charged with assisting the leadership team to develop, manage and monitor the QHSE performance of the company. You will report directly to the Lead Farm Managers and indirectly to Management on all aspects of operations. This is a contract position with the possibility of a full-time role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and advise on all QHSE matters, issues, and concerns to ensure Company's compliance with statutory requirements, company and contractual requirements, and good industry practice.
  • Ensure all fresh food handling, packaging, and shipping meet company and government standards.
  • Prepare the company's QA manual control and supervise all amendments and revisions.
  • Manage and monitor emergency procedures, signage, PPE, COSHH control, etc.
  • Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of systems and procedures and participate in improving and developing quality practices.
  • Conduct QHSE training courses for the team using internal and external resources.
  • Eliminate, reduce, isolate and control workplace accidents by developing and presenting cost-effective solutions to management.
  • Arrange, compile and report safety and quality data to staff.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and submit monthly reports.
Key Requirements:
  • Must be aware of the evolving industry QHSE regulations and best practices and how they could be applied to the Company's operations.
  • Experience in managing and implementing Quality Management Systems.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and trustworthiness and be able to generate a robust safety culture.
  • Exposure at a location associated with horticulture and commercial hydroponic greenhouse operations is an asset.
Qualifications:
  • BSc. (Hons) Occupational Safety, Health & Environment
  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Level 6
  • Broad knowledge of HSSE regulations (TT laws, OSHA, NFPA, ISO 9001, ISO 45001)
  • Certification and experience in auditing, risk management, and emergency response.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership skills to constantly drive safety and quality improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive outlook.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills - Able to communicate clearly with all staff levels and other stakeholders and explain technical concepts in simple terms.
  • Accountability – Takes initiative and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Time Management & Organization Skills - Able to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Data record management.
  • Working knowledge of Computer Applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
