About The Role

Berry Smith LLP is seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic Commercial Contracts & IP Solicitor to join our respected Commercial team, based in our Cardiff office. This position offers a unique opportunity for a proactive lawyer to shape their career by developing their own client base, engaging in networking, and marketing activities, and contributing to our expanding commercial offering.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating standard commercial agreements (NDAs, supply of goods and services, manufacturing, development, collaboration, NDAs, T&Cs)
  • Advising on IP ownership, protection, and licensing
  • Providing guidance on data protection compliance
  • Work closely with the Partner on more complex matters while managing your own caseload independently with support when needed

Qualifications

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with minimum 24 months of post‑qualification experience
  • A degree at 2.1 level or above
  • Proven experience in handling commercial contracts and advising on IP rights
  • Strong knowledge of data protection legislation
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with enthusiasm for networking, marketing, and business development
  • Excellent communication, drafting, and organisational skills
  • Commercially aware and comfortable liaising with clients directly
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment
