We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Material Expeditor to join our team in Falmouth for a 6‑month contract, to help keep production running smoothly. You’ll play a key role in ensuring materials arrive on time by monitoring purchase orders, driving supplier commitments, and accelerating deliveries when needed. You’ll work closely with procurement, planning, production, warehousing, and logistics, acting as a key link between the business and its suppliers.
In this role, you will:
- Take ownership of late purchase orders, investigate root causes, and secure updated delivery dates
- Put recovery plans in place, including pull‑ins, split shipments, and premium freight
- Monitor parts below safety stock levels and ensure purchase order coverage is in place
- Expedite deliveries to restore inventory to target levels
- Confirm inbound shipments, acknowledgements, and tracking details
- Update ERP systems with accurate delivery information
- Re‑engage dormant or low‑activity suppliers and validate their readiness to resume supply
- Run weekly calls with key suppliers to review backorders and risks
- Escalate issues when supplier commitments slip
- Work closely with internal teams to align priorities and maintain material flow
- Maintain shortage and expedite reports and highlight data gaps such as lead time or safety stock inaccuracies
- Support premium freight requests when required
We’re looking for someone with:
- 3+ years demonstrative knowledge in supply chain, procurement, materials, or production planning
- Hands‑on expediting experience with suppliers and carriers
- Strong ERP/MRP skills (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Infor, etc.)
- Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills (lookups, pivots, filters)
- Clear communication skills and confidence running supplier calls
- Strong attention to detail and disciplined follow‑through
It’s a bonus if you also have:
- Experience re‑activating or remediating suppliers
- Knowledge of safety stock, min/max, lead times, and MRP parameters
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
- Understanding of logistics modes and Incoterms
Working environment:
- On‑site role to support operational needs
- Occasional calls with suppliers in different time zones
- Some time spent on the shop floor to verify material status
In return the company are offering an hourly rate £16.48 to £19.23 per hour paid weekly. Holiday Pay. Working Monday to Thursday – Fridays off!
