Are you passionate about creating safe and healthy workplaces? We are looking for an experienced health and safety professional to join our team as the designated competent person for occupational health and safety matters. This is a strategic leadership role where you will shape policy, drive cultural change, and ensure compliance across all services.
What you will do:
- Provide expert advice to senior leadership on health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Develop and deliver the company-wide health and safety strategy, policies, and annual plans.
- Lead initiatives that promote staff well-being and influence future workplace design.
- Oversee audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to ensure continuous improvement.
- Design and deliver training programmes to build competence and confidence across the organisation.
- Act as the company representative with regulatory bodies and external partners.
What we are looking for:
- Proven experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent understanding of occupational H&S, risk management and audit processes.
- Occupational safety and health qualification equivalent to EQF level 6 (e.g., Degree, NEBOSH/NCRQ Diploma, NVQ/SVQ Level 6) and/or 3 years’ relevant experience.
