Our client, a local authority, is looking for a Wagon and Drag driver to work with their recycling and waste management team.

Working days: Monday to Sunday, working 5 days out of 7

Working Hours: (Apply online only)

This role requires a Class 1 (Category C+E) HGV licence and involves moving heavy waste containers and Roll-on Roll-off. You will also need a valid Driver CPC card and a digital tachograph card. The lorry is fitted with a manual gearbox, so previous experience using a manual gearbox is beneficial.

The job will involve:

  • Operating a heavy Class 1 vehicle with a trailer attached in all types of traffic and weather.
  • Loading, unloading, and securing heavy waste bins or containers so no rubbish falls out on public roads.
  • Performing daily safety checks on the lorry and trailer before and after shifts.
  • Keeping in touch with the transport office and following a daily route plan.
  • Completing waste transfer notes, logging hours on a digital tachograph card, and recording any issues.

To fill this role you must have:

  • Past experience driving large vehicles, ideally in the waste or recycling industry.
  • Good skills with navigation, road safety rules, and securing heavy loads.
