Southampton City Council is seeking a proactive, experienced, and driven Contracts Manager to lead and coordinate minor works and maintenance projects — with a specific focus on damp, mould, and condensation issues across our housing estates.
You’ll be improving living conditions for our residents by delivering safe, compliant, and high-quality repairs and refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
As the Contracts & Commercial Services Contracts Manager, you will:
- Lead the planning, procurement, and delivery of remedial and planned maintenance projects (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms, boiler replacements, major voids).
- Ensure CDM compliance, health and safety, and regulatory standards are upheld.
- Manage multi-trade teams, contractors, and resources to deliver on time and within budget.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Housing Investment, Housing Management, Capital Assets, and Safety Services teams.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, tenders, and performance reports.
- Champion customer service, resident engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Support the development of apprentices and drive service innovation.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC/HND or equivalent OR significant industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, with IOSH Level 3 (or working towards).
- Proven experience in managing maintenance or construction contracts.
