Berry Recruitment are NOW hiring for a committed and experienced Compression Operators (Pharma) to join a growing pharmaceutical company based in Oxford. Due to a significant period of expansion, we have multiple opportunities available. This is a hands-on manufacturing role focused on the production of medicinal products including tablets (pills), liquids, and gels within a regulated cleanroom environment. Candidates must have previous experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing, with a strong understanding of GMP standards and production processes. This role is commutable from Oxford, Woodstock, Bicester, and Witney.
Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire
Hours: Full-time, 08:00 - 16:30
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup
- Install punches and dies
- Set compression force, speed, and fill depth
- Ensure correct tooling for the product
- Material Handling
- Load granules or powder into the hopper
- Check material flow and prevent segregation
- Process Monitoring
- Monitor tablet weight, hardness, thickness, and appearance
- Adjust machine parameters in real time
- In-Process Quality Control (IPQC)
- Perform routine checks (e.g., every 15-30 minutes)
- Record data according to GMP documentation
- Troubleshooting
- Identify defects like: Capping, Lamination, Sticking/picking
- Adjust pressure, speed, or lubrication
- Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean machine parts between batches
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines
- Report wear or damage to tooling
About You:
- Essential:
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Experience working in regulated production environments (cleanroom experience desirable)
- Experience within a Compression Operator role is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of GMP and compliance procedures
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively within a team
