A respected and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Cornwall is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their friendly, supportive team. This is a key role working closely with the Accounting team to deliver accurate bookkeeping, VAT processing, and high-quality client support.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payments, invoices & receipts
- Compile financial data into accounting software
- Prepare financial statements showing income & expenditure
- Verify accounts and flag errors to the accountancy team
- Support preparation of accounts alongside accountants
- Weekly & monthly bookkeeping for a variety of clients
- Maintain accurate client records
- Prepare & submit VAT returns
- Liaise with HMRC when required
- Communicate with clients to resolve queries
- Use accounting software to track VAT progress
Software Experience
- Xero (essential)
- DEXT
- TaxCalc
- Other bookkeeping and accountancy platforms
What We're Looking For
- AAT-qualified Bookkeeper
- Preferably from an accountancy practice but not essential
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping processes and VAT
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, organised and detail-focused
- Confident communicating with clients and HMRC
Working Hours & Flexibility
- 37.5 hours per week
- Flexible start/finish times between 8:30am and 6pm
- Supportive of work-life balance
