Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to support refuse and recycling collections in line with contract requirements. This role involves operating collection vehicles, completing designated routes, and working as part of a team to maintain high service standards within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled and reactive refuse and recycling collections
- Operate vehicles and associated machinery safely and efficiently
- Complete daily routes in line with schedules and agreed procedures
- Adapt routes to accommodate traffic, road closures, weather, and operational changes
- Use in-cab technology/mobile devices to record work in real time
- Perform daily vehicle and equipment checks, reporting any defects
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and machinery
- Ensure all waste is safely transported and disposed of at designated sites
- Complete all required documentation, including weighbridge tickets and waste transfer notes
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively with supervisors
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public
- Maintain a professional and presentable appearance at all times
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Driver CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Maximum of 6 penalty points (no major endorsements)
- Driver Licence Check Code required
- Previous experience in refuse/recycling or similar role desirable (minimum 6 months preferred)
