We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated HGV Class 2 Refuse Collections Driver to join a busy waste management operation based in Stowmarket, Suffolk (IP14). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 2 driver looking for consistent weekday work, competitive pay, and the potential to secure a permanent position with a well-established organisation.
Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14
Pay Rate: £16.59 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am – 3:00pm
Contract Type: Temporary Ongoing with Potential for Permanent Employment
This is a hands-on role that combines professional driving duties with assisting the collection crew to ensure refuse and recycling rounds are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily refuse and recycling collections across designated routes
- Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles and associated collection equipment
- Assist refuse loaders when required to ensure rounds are completed efficiently
- Use in-cab technology and mobile devices in accordance with operational procedures
- Complete all required paperwork and electronic records accurately and in real time
- Conduct daily pre-use and post-use vehicle inspections, reporting defects promptly
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of vehicles and equipment
- Follow safe manual handling and lifting procedures at all times
- Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents and members of the public
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, road transport regulations, and health & safety requirements
What We're Looking For
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence
- Valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
- No more than 6 penalty points on your licence
- Willingness to assist with loading duties as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated
- Flexible approach with the ability to undertake a variety of tasks
- Previous refuse collection or waste management experience is advantageous but not essential
- A clean driving licence is desirable
