Job Title: Spirits Advisor
Location: No.1 St. Jame's, London
The job in a nutshell
With over 325 years of history, we are Britain's original wine and spirit merchant. With services including cellar management, an award-winning shop, tutored tastings, and events & education, we provide the closest link between those who make the wines & spirits and those who drink it.
The new Spirits Shop is a critical part of the company, representing a key focus for the business. It plays a significant role in its financial success whilst also providing a space for us to welcome customers to the brand and to introduce them to all the products and services we offer.
This role will support the Spirit Shop Team providing excellent customer service, where you will need to demonstrate a strong knowledge and enthusiasm for spirits, ensuring the effective day to day operations of the shop and acumen for sales.
Who you will work with
Internal: All Berry Bros. & Rudd Employees particularly Operations (London Cellar Team, Logistics), Customer Services, Buying, Marketing, Account Managers
External: Berry Bros. & Rudd customers, occasionally suppliers/producers
What you will do
Present a very high level of customer service and excellent product knowledge in line with the standards set out by company policy, advising on, and selling, the full range of BB&R products and services to customers in person, by telephone and through written correspondence including e-mail
Work towards sales targets by being effective at selling, across all prices ranges and product categories.
Confident at engaging with UHNW individuals
Ensure the shop and displays (including stock levels), tickets, Sake Fridge, tasting cupboards, Fine Spirit Reserve are maintained properly and kept clean and tidy
Organise complimentary and ticketed tastings for customers where necessary
Arrange for stock replenishment when required Implement and participate in shop and company sales/marketing campaigns as directed (including tasting and other shop events)
Liaise with the Cellars, Warehouse and Despatch teams regarding the distribution of shop stock and deliveries
Handle transactions, process payments and participate in cashing-up/till reconciliation.
Manage opening and closing procedures.
Always be mindful of shop security (fraud, theft)
What you will bring to the role
Experience / Achievements
Previous experience of delivering and maintaining an outstanding level of customer service and offering customers an unforgettable retail experience. Preferably in the luxury sector.
Good sales background with experience managing UHNW individuals
The ability to foster and develop customer relationships.
Communicate clearly and professionally to external stakeholders, such as suppliers or brands.
Experience in effectively dealing with stock replenishment
The ability to work effectively as part of a team but also manage by yourself.

WSET Spirits Level 2 or equivalent would be an advantage
