Hours: 45 hours a week, any 5 out of 7 days a week, (1hr unpaid lunch break daily) as standard. Start times will be flexible based on business requirement.

The job in a nutshell:
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable HGV Driver to join our team, supporting both UK domestic distribution and international supplier collections. This multi-role position involves:
- Operating a 44-tonne articulated HGV, rigid HGV, and company van
- Completing palletised UK customer deliveries
- Shunting and inter-site movements across BBR locations
- Undertaking scheduled collections from suppliers across Europe, transporting goods safely back to Basingstoke
- Liaising with European suppliers and third-party logistics partners to ensure seamless cross-border operations
This role requires a professional, customer-focused individual who consistently upholds the Berry Bros. & Rudd brand. Full compliance with tachograph rules, international driving regulations, border documentation, and Working Time Directive requirements is essential.

- Internal: Customer Service, Despatch, Warehouse, Supply Chain teams
- External: UK & European suppliers, customers, third-party logistics partners
What You Will Do:
UK Domestic Responsibilities:- Carry out multi-drop deliveries of fine wines and spirits across the UK.
- Operate HGVs safely and professionally, including 44-tonne articulated units.
- Manoeuvre and reverse articulated vehicles into tight and complex delivery sites.
- Follow predetermined routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, presentable vehicle at all times.
- Ensure strict adherence to all UK traffic laws, load security regulations, and H&S standards.
- Collect PODs via automated system (training provided).
- Undertake international HGV trips to multiple European countries, collecting goods directly from suppliers.
- Ensure full compliance with EU driving hours, tachograph regulations, rest requirements, and border crossing procedures.
- Manage customs documentation, export/import paperwork, delivery notes, and supplier collection records.
- Safely load and secure European consignments, ensuring product integrity during long-distance transport.
- Communicate with European suppliers professionally, representing BBR’s standards abroad.
- Coordinate with the Fulfilment Manager, Transport Manager and Supply Chain teams to plan efficient multicounty collection routes.
- Ensure all goods are delivered safely back to Basingstoke in line with agreed timelines.
- Carry out vehicle inspections before and after journeys.
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, inspections, deliveries, and collections.
- Provide excellent customer service at all touchpoints.
- Ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive and all UK/EU legal requirements.
- Attend CPC renewals, medicals, and company funded training as required.
- Valid Category C+E (Class 1) licence.
- Minimum 1 year HGV driving experience, including multi-drop.
- Clean licence with no more than 3 points.
- Experience driving in London and the Home Counties.
- Willingness to undertake regular international driving assignments.
- Ability to manage long-distance driving schedules and overnight stays when required.
- Previous experience driving in Europe.
- Understanding of customs processes and cross-border transport.
- Experience handling fine wines and spirits.
- Fork lift licence.
- 3+ years in a customer-focused driving role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of professionalism and personal presentation.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads and travel requirements.
- Ability to serve as a role model within the driving team.
