We are looking for a Senior Accounts Officer to join our Finance department at Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement. If you are interested in exciting career opportunities and personal growth in an international, fast‑paced environment, BSM could be your next step.
Responsibilities
- Process accounting transactions (invoices, expenses), including monthly reconciliation of accounting records.
- Handle payment of corporate invoices and communicate with banks on related matters.
- Assist the Finance Manager with the company budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Provide financial information on the company and vessels for management decision‑making.
- Issue and submit client invoices per contractual agreements, monitor payment, raise inter‑company invoices and reconcile balances on a periodic basis.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial management reports.
- Oversee back‑office outsourced activities ensuring timely and accurate performance.
- Submit VAT returns.
- Coordinate with external consultants for office payroll and related matters.
- Assist in the execution of internal and external audits and provide required information and data.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications: University degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent professional qualification (ACA or ACCA).
Work Experience: 3–5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in corporate accounting and/or ship management.
Job‑Specific Skills: Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Familiarity with latest corporation tax and VAT requirements. Analytical ability to prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Good analytical and conceptual thinking. Attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of local/regional maritime market conditions. Excellent people‑management skills. Fluency in English.
