As a Technical Superintendent at BSM, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective technical operation of assigned vessels. This role is pivotal in maintaining operational excellence and environmental compliance while fostering strong collaboration between ship and shore. You will play a key part in supporting strategic goals, delivering high-quality ship management services, and upholding safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control the technical performance of assigned vessels to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Maintain close communication with clients and build strong working relationships to support operational needs.
- Provide technical and operational support to vessels, including troubleshooting and implementing solutions for performance improvement.
- Develop and oversee maintenance and repair plans, including drydock activities, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Prepare, monitor, and report vessel budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and commercial viability.
- Ensure compliance with maritime legislation, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
- Plan and execute vessel inspections, audits, and follow-up actions to enhance operational standards.
- Promote and implement health, safety, environmental, and quality policies onboard vessels.
- Support and mentor sea staff, identify training needs, and provide onboard training during visits.
- Manage purchasing activities and ensure timely handling of ship requisitions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Company Management System.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent, OR Chief Engineer’s qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of sailing experience as Senior Officer OR 3 years of shore experience as Technical Superintendent in a ship management or owning company.
- Experience with Container vessels is essential.

- Strong knowledge of vessel technical requirements and voyage regulations.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Effective negotiation and people management abilities.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with diverse stakeholders.
