Job Objective
Provides support to the MD on business development strategy to drive sustainable growth, maximize market share, and enhance profitability through effective sales and client management.
Key Accountabilities
- Business Development Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate business development activities, systematically identifying customers for ship management business.
- Market Analysis & Targeted Lead Generation
- Conduct market intelligence efforts to facilitate targeted lead generation and business development activities. Identify market trends, competitive positioning, and potential business opportunities.
- Business Development Support, Proposals and Sales Capabilities
- Conduct presentations to potential clients on ship management capabilities to support business acquisition.
- Prepare proposals, commercial tenders, and sales materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with company standards.
- Draft, review, and finalize Ship Management and Crew Management Agreements for new vessels, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory expectations, and coordinating with Legal, Operations, and Compliance teams prior to client submission.
- Lead the preparation, verification, and maintenance of complete KYC documentation for prospective clients, including required identification, corporate information, and financial records. Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness of all data in accordance with compliance requirements before agreement finalisation.
- CRM System
- Supervise the updating of the PAL CRM system, ensuring effective management of sales and client relations, and enabling transparent, accessible client data for all stakeholders.
- Client Relations
- Support SMC client relationship management capabilities by developing and implementing tools and methodologies that elevate service levels and foster long-term client partnerships.
- Resource Management
- Lead and develop the Business Development department by providing strategic direction, mentoring, and professional development, ensuring optimal performance, budget compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Support to the Managing Director
- Explore opportunities to improve work processes and propose enhancements for Management decision-making.
- Preparing management information and reporting as required.
Requirements
- Education & Qualifications
- Relevant degree or qualification from an accredited University or College.
- Work Experience
- Strong understanding of, and direct exposure to, market research & analysis, competitive intelligence, and business planning related methodologies and activities, including use of CRM tools.
- Minimum 3 years’ on-shore experience within a ship management/owning company.
- Experience in sales and marketing.
- Job-Specific Skills
- Strong knowledge of the marine sector requirements and trends.
- Knowledge of the global and regional maritime market conditions.
- Familiarity with target markets, customer base and service offerings.
- Strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent administrative, time & project management skills with ability to deliver to time and quality.
- PC literate with effective knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint and CRM products.
- Flexible, self-motivated and self-directed whilst equally able to work effectively as a team member.
- Customer-focused (internal and external) with strong interpersonal skills; keen to learn and develop.
