The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as a Senior Officer – International Affairs in our Policy Development, Strategy and International Affairs Department. Reporting to the Assistant Director - International Affairs, the Senior Officer – International Affairs will be responsible for contributing to a wide range of international and regulatory projects including international assessments, surveys, research, training staff and other stakeholders and other ad hoc undertakings related to the non-insurance sectors (digital assets, digital finance, banking, investment funds, trusts, investment business, etc.). The postholder will also play a key role in the effective execution of international affairs strategies with accountability for liaising with internal and external stakeholders and representing the BMA in international settings as appropriate.
This is a key role for the Authority and the postholder will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Providing support to the Assistant Director - International Affairs to ensure effective execution of international strategic work.
- Managing operational aspects of the strategy, including its internal and external relationships and advocacy.
- Attending and participating in overseas and local meetings on international matters.
- Contributing to the development of documents and briefs and organising events as necessary.
- Drafting reports and content for internal stakeholders on international matters and ensuring adequate record keeping on appropriate platforms.
- Supporting the delivery of international assessments, surveys and requests for feedback by external parties as appropriate.
- Conducting research and providing reports on issues that may impact BMA's international affairs work, monitoring and analysing international policy and regulatory developments as they impact upon the BMA.
- Contributing to the communication of international affairs matters and preparing impactful visual presentations.
- Preparing written communications for internal stakeholders, managing the International Affairs page on BMA connect and providing support on educating staff and other stakeholders on BMA's international affairs work.
- Performing other related work and special projects assigned by management in accordance with competencies normally associated with the post.
This position requires a proven technical and business background, therefore, the postholder must have:
- A master's degree in business administration, research, international relations, or a related field from a recognised university; a professional designation(s) in a related field is also preferred.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in regulatory affairs, preferably within the financial services sector or a regulatory body.
- Creative and pragmatic approach to identifying solutions and overcoming challenges.
- Familiarity with international regulatory standards and financial sector dynamics.
- High level of accuracy and thoroughness in all work outputs.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent listening and people skills.
