Our client is a highly innovative UK Independent Power Producer, they are scaling fast, building and developing flexible energy infrastructure, playing a pivotal role in enabling the country’s transition to a low-carbon power system. They specialise in large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and flexible gas generation—both essential for balancing supply and demand in a renewable-led grid. With significant investment backing, this business is set to increase its energy production capability by at least 400%. The successful Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing support to the commercial team on a variety of projects within the renewable energies sector. Duties will include preparing cost estimates, tender documents, and contracts; managing the procurement process; and monitoring project costs. Key Responsibilities • To manage multiple works packages from project inception through to final accounting. • To provide comprehensive financial and surveying related information as required. • Preparation of cost estimates, cost planning reports, and other costing exercises. • Preparation and administration of various contract forms (predominantly NEC4). • Preparation and administration of application for payments. • Carrying out assessments of Compensation Events. • Providing accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting to completion in line with budget. • Pro-actively monitoring and managing cost variance and contract cash flow and ensuring that applications are made correctly and within contract timescales. • Lead on the development of internal cost database practices. • Liaise with Contractor and Client representatives and other members of the team to ensure effective communications and a cohesive working environment. • Site presence as required by specific project deliverables. • Supporting procurement strategies. • Ensure deadlines are actively managed and progress is reported to supervisors as required. • Follow quality assurance process on all projects. • Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Manager, and delivery team to maximise the success of the project. Required Competencies: • Contract Management experience (NEC3, NEC4 preferred). • Experience with Civils, M&E, Renewables or Major Infrastructure projects in a Main Contractor or Consultancy capacity. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, • and Outlook. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Strong analytical and logical skills. • Knowledge of construction industry regulations and best practices. Skills and Qualities: • A bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field. • Chartered member (or working towards) of an industry accredited body (e.g RICS, CICES, CIOB). • 4-8 years of experience in Quantity Surveying or related field. • Full driving licence (preferred). • Contract negotiation / problem solving experience on high value complex projects
