As the Procurement Lead (M&E) , you will play a key role in managing and directing procurement activities within a project-driven environment, with a particular focus on sourcing mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment for substation construction projects. You will oversee the procurement of goods and services, ensuring alignment with budgets, optimising supply chains, and driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining the company’s procurement strategy, addressing supply chain constraints.
  • Creating a strategic procurement management plan, researching and sourcing the best products and suppliers to ensure optimal value, quality, and delivery times.
  • Developing strategies to achieve cost savings and meet supplier performance targets.
  • Supporting the development of project tendering and procurement strategies aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Managing the end-to-end procurement process, including scheduling, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and finalising, with robust documentation throughout.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO-aligned procurement processes and providing guidance to internal teams.
  • Overseeing the estimating process, ensuring it aligns with evolving business requirements.
  • Assisting in contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with project-specific estimates.
  • Collaborating with procurement, commercial, and project management teams to establish and implement procurement policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of a procurement system that aligns with business needs.
  • Preparing an annual Procurement Strategy document and strategic outsourcing plan, identifying key procurement initiatives.
  • Setting and monitoring KPIs to track procurement initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Staying informed of developments in local, national, and international supply chains, including current market trends and rates.
  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with key supply chain partners.
  • Identifying and implementing procurement best practices to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Engaging and managing internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Developing robust pricing assumptions, commercial strategies, and contract frameworks to strengthen business cases for current and emerging markets.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement processes gained within an EPC or project-led business.
  • Proven experience in sourcing mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment and services.
  • Strong background in engineering, construction, or the energy project sector.
  • Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems and tools.
  • Understanding of market trends, supply chain developments, and current market rates.
  • Ideally, CIPS qualification (or working towards it).
