Berkshire Talent Partnership is supporting a confidential client within the UK energy and infrastructure sector. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking an experienced Contract Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of renewable and grid-connected projects. This role is ideal for a proactive, delivery-focused professional with a strong track record managing capital-intensive projects across the renewable, solar, BESS or wider energy sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of projects from early development through construction and handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the required technical and quality standards.
  • Drive projects from early development through to ready-to-build status.
  • Identify and resolve key development constraints (permitting, grid, land, technical).
  • Lead tendering processes, assess EPC/supplier bids, and support contract preparation.
  • Build and refine internal project management processes and documentation.
  • Engage effectively with planning bodies, utilities, and relevant third parties.
  • Manage feasibility assessments and early-stage risk mitigation.
  • Support grid-related studies and liaise with DNO/TO stakeholders.
  • Negotiate supply, logistics, and construction-related contracts.

Construction Delivery

  • Oversee EPC partners, ensuring schedule, budget and quality compliance.
  • Carry out regular site reviews and enforce robust Health & Safety standards.
  • Assess and approve QA/QC documentation and commissioning plans.
  • Coordinate communications between contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Report milestones, manage changes, and resolve project issues proactively.
  • Ensure environmental and sustainability obligations are met.
  • Support handover, close-out, and documentation requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in an engineering or technical discipline (BEng/BSc or equivalent).
  • Ideally working toward or holding a recognised PM qualification (APM, similar).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience delivering renewable, solar, BESS, or energy projects.
  • Demonstrable capability managing scope, cost, schedule, safety and quality.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and contract negotiation.
  • Competence with PM tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and document control systems.
  • Confident communicating with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial, solutions-driven mindset with excellent organisational skills.
  • Comfortable collaborating with technical experts in a fast-paced project environment.
