Company Overview

Independent Power Producer developing large‑scale solar PV and BESS projects across the UK. The role focuses on grid connection delivery, ESO/DNO engagement, and power system engineering across the full project lifecycle.

Role Overview

Responsible for all grid connection engineering activities for solar and BESS projects, from application through to commissioning and energisation. You'll interpret Grid Code requirements, deliver technical studies and models, and act as a key interface with National Grid ESO and DNOs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead grid connection workstreams for solar and BESS projects.
  • Interpret and apply UK Grid Code, CUSC and ESO/DNO technical requirements.
  • Deliver power system studies (load flow, fault level, stability) and review EMT/PSSE models.
  • Prepare and submit technical documentation for connection, compliance and operational stages.
  • Act as primary technical contact with National Grid ESO and DNOs.
  • Support commissioning and energisation, including relevant grid compliance testing.
  • Track regulatory changes and ensure project designs remain compliant.

Requirements

  • Experience in grid connection or power systems engineering for utility‑scale solar, BESS, or other generation assets.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK Grid Code, CUSC and ESO/DNO connection processes.
  • Experience with power system studies and EMT/PSSE modelling.
  • Understanding of compliance testing and commissioning requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder and communication skills.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems (Chartered beneficial).
