Job Overview: The EPC Project Manager Grid Connections will be responsible for managing the entire Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) lifecycle of T&D level grid connection projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and compliance with safety and industry standards. The role involves close collaboration with engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, and DNO to ensure successful connection of renewable energy projects (such as solar, wind, or energy storage) to the electrical grid.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, an in-depth understanding of grid infrastructure, and experience delivering complex EPC projects within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead the end-to-end management of grid connection EPC projects from initial planning through to final handover, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules, identifying critical paths, key milestones, and resources needed for successful delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, utilities, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project objectives are achieved with minimal disruption.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation and management of contracts with suppliers and contractors, ensuring adherence to contractual terms, project scope, and specifications.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide leadership and guidance on technical aspects of grid connection design, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Budget Control: Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial targets are met, reporting regularly on cost variances and forecasts.
  • Permitting & Compliance: Ensure all permits, licenses, and approvals required for grid connection projects are obtained and comply with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Implement and enforce stringent safety protocols, ensuring that all project activities adhere to the highest safety and environmental standards.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications: HNC or above within Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience managing EPC projects, particularly in grid connections or the energy sector.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of grid connection processes, renewable energy technologies, and industry standards for connecting to transmission and distribution networks.
  • Project Management Skills: Proven track record of delivering large-scale projects on time, within scope, and budget, with experience managing multiple stakeholders and project teams.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: In-depth knowledge of national and regional grid codes, permitting processes, and electrical safety standards.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage and influence diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical and operational issues.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and knowledge of engineering design tools.
