Warner Hotels has invested in a modern data platform built on Snowflake and dbt — but the engineering effort required to make it genuinely valuable to the business is significant.
Source systems need fully integrating, transformation models need building to production quality, data quality needs governing, and the analytics and AI products that sit on top of the platform need reliable, well-structured data underneath them.
The
Software Engineer (Data) is a core hands-on contributor to Warner's data platform — building and maintaining the pipelines, transformation models, and data quality frameworks that turn raw source system data into trusted, business-ready intelligence.
You will work within a squad model alongside the Data Tech Lead and offshore data engineering partners, contributing to the delivery of Warner's data engineering roadmap.
Key data products you will contribute to include: full i Stay transaction data integration into Snowflake, Maestro PMS data ingestion, Zonal F&B data, Element Suite labour data, and Coupa procurement data — as well as the Customer Foundation Model that powers My Warner personalisation and Club Warner, and the AI executive KPI dashboard.
This is a role for a practitioner who takes genuine pride in data quality, pipeline reliability, and engineering craft.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Pipeline Development
- Design, build, and maintain data ingestion pipelines from Warner's source systems (i Stay, Maestro, Zonal, Element Suite, Coupa) into Snowflake — using HVR for change data capture and dbt for transformation.
- Build and maintain dbt transformation models across Warner's Snowflake data warehouse — implementing staging, intermediate, and mart layers in line with the agreed modelling conventions.
- Develop and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines using Python and AWS services (Lambda, S3, Glue) where appropriate.
- Data Quality & Observability
- Implement data quality tests within dbt — defining assertions, freshness checks, and schema validations across all pipelines you own.
- Monitor pipeline health and data quality dashboards — investigating and resolving data quality failures promptly.
- Document data lineage and transformation logic clearly — maintaining a trustworthy data catalogue for the pipelines you own.
- Data Products
- Contribute to the build of the Customer Foundation Model — the single view of the guest that underpins My Warner personalisation, Club Warner enrolment, and Bloomreach campaign enrichment.
- Support the data engineering delivery of Lumen by Warner — the AI-powered executive KPI dashboard — ensuring the underlying Snowflake data models provide accurate, low-latency data for real-time P&L visibility.
- Provide the clean, well-modelled data that enables Power BI and Tableau reporting across the business.
- Engineering Standards & Collaboration
- Write well-tested, version-controlled code following Warner's dbt and SQL coding standards.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies — sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives — contributing to the team's delivery rhythm.
- Review code produced by offshore data engineering partners (Data Action) — providing constructive feedback and flagging quality concerns to the Data Tech Lead.
- Collaborate with the Integration Architect on the correct use of Snowflake as a data platform — not an integration bus.
Your Experience?
- 2+ years in software engineering roles with proven experience across front-end and back-end development.
- Hands-on production experience with React/Next. js — required.
- Hands-on production experience with . NET (Core/. NET 5+) and C# — required; . NET 8 / ASP. NET Core strongly preferred.
- Demonstrable experience building and deploying microservices on AWS (Lambda and/or ECS/Fargate).
- Experience with RESTful API design and development in a microservices architecture.
- Experience working in agile sprint teams, including alongside nearshore or offshore engineering partners.
- Consumer-facing product experience — e Commerce, hospitality, travel, or retail strongly preferred.
You are
- a Full-Stack
Practitioner: You are genuinely comfortable across the React/Next. js front-end and the .
NET 8 microservice back-end — you don't stop at the layer boundary and can own a feature end-to-end.
- Microservices-Minded: You understand what independently deployable, loosely coupled services look like in practice — and you apply those principles when designing new services, not just when reviewing others'.
- Quality-Driven: You write tests before you consider a feature done. You don't ship code you wouldn't be comfortable supporting on-call.
- API-First: You design APIs that are clean, versioned, documented, and built for the consumers who will call them — not just the service that produces them.
- A Collaborative
Engineer: You give code reviews that make the team better, work well in cross-geography sprints, and share architectural context generously with nearshore partners.
- The benefits of working with us
- Annual Bonus: up to 15% of salary, based on your personal and business performance
- Pension scheme: 3% employer, 5% employee
- 25 days annual leave per year + flexible 8 bank holidays + you can purchase up to 5 days additional leave per year
- 20% discount at breaks at Warner, Butlins & Haven + additional discounts during your stays
