Job Summary
The Greenkeeper is responsible for maintaining the golf course and surrounding grounds to a high standard of presentation and play‑ability. This includes mowing, turf care, irrigation, bunker maintenance, and general landscape upkeep. The role requires a passion for horticulture, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Mow greens, tees, fairways, and roughs using hand and ride‑on mowers.
- Maintain bunkers, including raking and edging.
- Repair divots, ball marks, and other course wear and tear.
- Operate and maintain irrigation systems, including manual watering and basic troubleshooting.
- Apply fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides as directed.
- Assist in aeration, top‑dressing, and turf renovation tasks.
- Maintain golf course equipment and report any issues.
- Monitor course conditions and report concerns to senior team.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, using appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Support preparation for tournaments and special events.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or turf management preferred but not essential.
- NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sports Turf Maintenance (or willingness to train).
- Knowledge of safe equipment handling and basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor conditions year‑round.
- Team player with a proactive and flexible attitude.
