Estates Mobile Technician (Multi-Skilled) role at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
Overview
We are looking for a self-motivated and reliable individual with a positive can-do attitude. You must be a time served Mobile Estates Technician with experience working on reactive breakdowns, planned maintenance, and minor/project works within a healthcare (or similar) building environment. A genuine multi-trade hard services background is essential, with any prior mechanical/electrical/building/plumbing and gas training/practise being an essential for the role. Electrical competency training is a valuable additional skill. You will work proactively within a dynamic and innovative Estates department to meet departmental and Trust requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage repair requests promptly, meet quality standards, and keep clients advised of status. Oversee complex plant breakdowns and lead recommendations for resolution.
- Provide clear guidance to non-technical end users.
- Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks are carried out by the Estates team, including Legionella prevention, scalding risk assessment, PAT testing, fire alarm testing, lifts, boilers, and building fabric.
- Procure stores and parts as needed using a purchase card system.
- Record time and materials on MICAD Helpdesk software on a Trust-issued device.
- Interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications; work independently and guide others to do the same.
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults using industry best practices.
- Manufacture, assemble, and install new work.
- Manage health and safety and risk assessments for staff and contractors.
- Ensure work is completed to a high standard, including finishing and making good.
- Lead discussions with the Estates Supervisor on significant building or engineering faults affecting services.
- Stay flexible and up-to-date on new technology; recommend innovation when needed.
- Deputise for the Estates Maintenance Supervisor as required.
- Carry a mobile phone during duty and respond promptly.
Qualifications and Experience
- Time-served Mobile Estates Technician with experience in reactive breakdowns, planned maintenance, and minor/project works in a healthcare or similar building environment.
- Strong multi-trade hard services background (mechanical/electrical/building/plumbing and gas training/practise).
- Any prior electrical competency training is a plus.
Working Pattern and Benefits
Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week + on-call stipend after 2 months (on-call adds approximately £5,200 per annum) + occasional overtime as scheduled.
