Job Opportunity: The Underwriting Technician will have responsibility for ensuring the Underwriting team are suitably enabled to transact business effectively through accurate timely and complete recording of data, investigation of issues and relevant engagement with external & internal stakeholders. Working alongside the Underwriting team, the Underwriting Technician will have extensive involvement with our Operations function and operational support area. This role provides the opportunity to optimise process, contribute to system-based improvements and promote efficiency. The Underwriting Technician is uniquely positioned to report on production, participate in improvements and provide ongoing training and feedback across the business. In a highly collaborative team, as part of a growing business, engagement in initiatives across functions and geographies form an ongoing part of the role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist underwriters with account booking and workflow management
  • Provide inputs to relevant actuarial and risk modelling tools
  • Draft quotes/binders in conjunction with Underwriter
  • Monitor and manage Underwriting file integrity
  • Review and provide support on operational support area task completion
  • Support management in producing and monitoring portfolio view of business
  • Participate in reporting and external engagement for receivables management
  • Represent the Operations function within Underwriting team
  • Observe and capture requirements for process improvements or task migration

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years commercial insurance experience required (casualty, property, financial products)
  • In-depth understanding of underwriting practices throughout the policy life cycle
  • Must be proactive and able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and build workflow and process
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum of A-level experience, preferably BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong competency in MS Office applications
