Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Risk Analyst to join the Risk team in London. This is a diverse and dynamic role. As part of the Risk team you will work with the Chief Risk Officer to monitor and maintain oversight of the risk management framework. The Risk team works closely with all business units, operates as a second line of defense and is responsible for ensuring that the company’s risks and controls are properly managed by the first line. The Risk team supports the achievement of business plan objectives through supporting the management of all risks and the provision of robust and independent challenge of underwriting activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform quarterly risk and control assessment for all risks, including underwriting, market, credit, operational, conduct and strategic risks.
  • Actively engage with risk owners to ensure effective management of the company’s risks.
  • Regularly monitor the company’s performance against the risk appetite statements.
  • Perform 2nd Line assurance testing on the control environment.
  • Perform risk assessments and due diligence of third-party service providers for the approval of the Risk Committee and Board.
  • Participate in thematic reviews outlined in the annual Risk plan.
  • Collaborate with Management and stakeholders in the production and documentation of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA).
  • Work closely with all business units, including the operations team on operational resilience.
  • Identify and monitor risk incidents and near misses.
  • Prepare quality management information reports for both internal Committees and regulators.
  • Assist in the continuous enhancement and development of the Risk Management Framework.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • 4+ years of risk management experience in financial services.
  • Qualified Accountant or similar experience preferable.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting high quality reports for internal and external stakeholders demonstrating a strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. This is a people facing role requiring a friendly and approachable professional.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise competing demands.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
