We’re excited to share that we’re currently recruiting for a Regional Sales Manager - Heartland in London! Below you’ll find more details about the role. We’re looking for an experienced and commercially driven Regional Sales Manager to lead our London Heartland team and play a key role in the continued growth of one of our most important On-Trade sectors.

What do we mean by “Heartland”? At Berkmann, Heartland refers to London’s independent restaurant sector focused on European, Mediterranean and related cuisines — including Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Turkish, Lebanese/Levantine and North African restaurants. It is a diverse, relationship-led part of the On-Trade and an important market for our portfolio.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows the London trade, enjoys being out with customers and teams, and can combine strong people management with real commercial delivery.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of 5 Sales Account Managers
  • Delivering the Heartland team sales budget alongside your own personal sales targets
  • Spending significant time out in the trade, coaching the team and building strong customer relationships
  • Identifying and winning profitable, sustainable new business
  • Protecting and developing existing customer relationships
  • Growing the presence of our key agency wines across the independent On-Trade
  • Working closely with the Head of Sales and the Commercial Director to deliver our London sales strategy
  • Supporting performance through clear KPIs, regular reviews and strong day-to-day leadership
  • Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Purchasing, Finance and Credit Control to deliver the best commercial outcomes

What we’re looking for:

  • You’ll have proven sales management experience, strong knowledge of the wine industry and On-Trade environment, and a track record of developing people and delivering commercial results.
  • You’ll be confident, energetic and commercially minded, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills and a genuine passion for wine and hospitality.
  • Strong On-Trade and wine industry knowledge
  • Excellent leadership and coaching skills
  • Experience of the London market, premium or luxury brands and agency wines would be a real advantage. WSET Level 4 is desirable.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to lead from the front, develop a high-performing team and make a visible impact across London’s independent restaurant scene.

Working Pattern:

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:30pm. However, given the nature of our clients in the hospitality sector, flexibility is essential — evening and occasional weekend work will be required to support customer needs, events, and tastings.

Offer:

  • Competitive salary and bonus
  • 25 days annual leave rising to 26 days after 5 years’ service and 27 days after 10 years’ service, plus bank holidays
  • Company pension
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Pay
  • Contribution to Dental Costs
  • Generous staff discount on our wine
  • A bottle of wine on your birthday and Berkmann anniversary

We cannot consider your application if you do not have the legal right to work in the UK. You must also satisfy the required knowledge and experience criteria detailed above. Equal consideration will be given to all candidates, irrespective of their gender, race, disability, marital status, religion, age or sexuality.
