We are currently looking for enthusiastic and reliable Catering Assistants to join our team, supporting local schools in Torquay on a temporary basis. This is a rewarding role ideal for someone with a passion for food service and who enjoys working in a structured, child-friendly environment. You’ll be a key part of the catering team, helping to prepare and serve nutritious meals to pupils and staff, while ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained.
As this role is based in schools, an Enhanced DBS check is required. If you don’t currently have one, we can assist in applying for it (£61), or provide guidance if you’d prefer to do it independently.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the preparation and service of school meals
- Ensure food is presented and served in line with school standards
- Support with cleaning duties in the kitchen and dining areas
- Maintain hygiene standards and follow health & safety protocols
- Work closely with the catering supervisor and school staff
- Help set up dining areas before and after meal service
- An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one)
- Previous experience in a kitchen, canteen, or school catering setting is desirable
- Good understanding of basic food hygiene practices
- A positive attitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliability and punctuality
- Flexibility to work short-term or long-term assignments as needed
- Full and in date UK Driving licence
