School Chefs Required – Enhanced DBS Essential September Starts Available | South West Locations | Up to £23.00 per Hour (DOE) | Weekly Pay

Berkeley Scott are recruiting experienced School Chefs for a range of temporary assignments across the South West ahead of the new school term in September. We work with a variety of primary schools, secondary schools, academies and educational settings, providing temporary chef cover for holidays, sickness, vacancies and additional operational support. We are looking for dependable chefs who can hit the ground running in busy catering environments.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of school kitchens
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards
  • Catering for allergens and special dietary requirements
  • Assisting with stock control, food preparation and kitchen cleanliness

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous Chef experience within schools, education catering, care homes, contract catering or high-volume kitchens
  • A current Enhanced DBS Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Level 3 Certificate
  • Strong understanding of allergens and special dietary requirements
  • Reliable, professional and able to work independently

The Nature of the Work:

These positions are offered on a temporary basis, and assignments can vary depending on client requirements. Opportunities may include covering:

  • Staff holidays and annual leave
  • Short and long-term sickness absence
  • Vacant positions whilst permanent recruitment is taking place
  • Maternity, paternity and other planned leave
  • Increased workload and seasonal demand
  • Additional support during busy periods, events and school functions

Assignments can range from single-day bookings to longer-term placements lasting several weeks or months, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work across a variety of educational catering environments.
