Berkeley Scott seeks experienced Chef to join its education catering team across Henley-on-Thames and nearby towns including Reading, Maidenhead, Marlow and Wallingford. This temporary contract offers flexible hours, immediate starts and a competitive rate of £16.00 to £20.00+ per hour, depending on assignment and experience. Duties include preparing fresh, nutritious meals for pupils and staff, managing a section, maintaining hygiene standards and supporting kitchen operations. Ideal applicants will have prior cooking experience, strong food safety knowledge, organisational skills and the ability to work well within a school setting. The Role As a Chef, your responsibilities may include:



  • Preparing and cooking fresh, nutritious meals for students and staff

  • Managing your section and supporting the wider kitchen team

  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety

  • Ensuring allergen and dietary requirements are adhered to

  • Assisting with stock control and food ordering

  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen


What We''re Looking For



  • Previous experience in a Chef position

  • Knowledge of food hygiene, allergens, and health and safety regulations

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

  • Reliable, professional, and hardworking

  • Strong team player with a positive attitude

  • Own transport is beneficial but not essential


Essential Safeguarding Requirement


As these roles are based within schools and educational environments , safeguarding requirements apply. - You must hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate for the Child Workforce , preferably registered on the Update Service, or - Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS Child Workforce check before starting work. Please note: Basic DBS, Standard DBS, and Adult Workforce DBS certificates are not suitable for these positions. All successful applicants must have a valid Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce before working within a school.
