The role involves ensuring management of the M&E installations on site to meet the programmed ORPC and working programme dates for individual plots and the block as a whole. The Senior M&E Manager will provide specific and detailed knowledge of specialist installations throughout all stages of the project, from design and planning to construction, commissioning, and handover.
Performance to ProgrammeThe Senior M&E Manager will ensure that systems are installed correctly, to a high standard, and are fully compliant with all British Standards and regulations. Responsibilities include:
- Providing specialist advice to other members of the production team when necessary.
- Managing M&E contractors and subcontractors, reporting daily on their performance and labour levels.
- Identifying any lack of information and achieving resolution.
- Having a clear understanding of the construction process and the sequencing of all trades.
To ensure that all works are constructed to the highest standard of quality and to St George requirements, the job holder will need to:
- Pay attention to detail and assess the quality of work at all stages of construction.
- Ensure that all works are inspected as they proceed and record them using specific St George quality stage checklists.
- Attend training sessions for staff on site.
- Make yourself aware of all relevant product information, building regulations, and changes in specific M&E installations.
- Ensure that the M&E installation coordinates effectively with the rest of the building.
Mechanical – Knowledge of residential mechanical services including SVP’s, RWP’s, hot and cold water systems, mechanical ventilation, air conditioning, gas installations, and communal boiler houses.
Electrical – Knowledge of residential electrical systems including HV substations, LV distribution systems, building earthing, apartment wiring installations, IRS systems, and AV/home automation.
Drywall – A good working understanding of drywall systems and the effects of M&E installation.
Health and SafetyTo ensure that all building operations are carried out safely and in accordance with all relevant regulations, responsibilities include:
- Ensuring contractors provide Risk Assessments and carry out checks for compliance on site.
- Providing specialist M&E knowledge and advice to the Health and Safety team.
- Managing specific M&E Health and Safety risks on site.
To ensure the site presentation is maintained to St George standards, responsibilities include:
- Maintaining site presentation and appearance.
- Inspecting the site daily and remedying matters within an agreed timescale.
Demonstrated experience managing technical processes and procedures, good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, and experience coordinating and providing technical guidance to developments and associated non-residential projects.
Required Certifications:CSCS Card, SMSTS.
