Quantity Surveying Apprentice in Watford

Overview

Apprentices at Berkeley need to show a willingness to learn. You should be comfortable communicating with different personalities. We work in a fast‑paced environment, so you will need to adapt to change. You will be liaising closely with the Land, Technical and Construction Departments from design through procurement and construction. The Commercial Department is responsible for organising materials and contractors used in the build process, for on‑going costs and contract management for a project. The team works closely with the technical and construction departments to ensure that what is being built is accurate, on time and to budget.

Responsibilities

• Logging data into Excel or Word
• Assessing changes to scopes of work
• Meeting with contractors to discuss variations
• Processing payments
• Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
• Apply different types of contracts to different situations
• Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project
• Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project
• Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis

Apprenticeship Details

The Commercial (Quantity Surveying) apprenticeship will last approximately 27 months and will be delivered by a college with face‑to‑face sessions in London. It is planned to be a day‑release model.

Qualifications

• Level 4 qualification in Construction and Built Environment – Quantity Surveying
• Functional skills level 2 in English and maths if required
• GCSE in Maths and English (grade D+ or Level 1)
