The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing and repair of recycling and waste compaction machinery at customer sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding abilities, together with a professional and customer-focused approach. You will primarily work on Bergmann machinery, although work may also involve servicing other makes of waste compaction equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and commission machinery supplied by Bergmann Direct Ltd, including:
- Semi-automatic and fully automatic balers
- Food dryers
- Mobile, traversing and static roll packers
Customer Support
- Attend customer sites for servicing, repairs and site surveys
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding work completed and any recommended actions
- Ensure all work carried out is signed off by the customer before leaving site
- Complete service reports and job documentation accurately
- Follow all company and site-specific Health & Safety requirements
Additional Duties
- Travel to customer sites throughout the UK, with occasional overnight stays where required
- Conduct site surveys for new equipment installations
- Identify and report potential sales opportunities during customer visits
- Provide basic operational training to customers where required
Requirements
- GCSE Maths and English (minimum requirement)
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance or equivalent
- HNC in Engineering (desirable)
- Welding experience (MIG, TIG or MMA beneficial)
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- PLC knowledge advantageous
- Full clean UK driving licence
