Berganza is a specialist dealer in antique and period jewellery, working with rare and historically significant pieces from the Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco eras. We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Stock & Jewellery Inventory Manager to oversee the handling, documentation, and movement of our jewellery and gemstone inventory. This is a central role within the business, requiring discretion, precision, and a genuine appreciation for fine antique jewellery. You will work closely with the director and internal team to ensure the accurate management, care, and presentation of our collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and detailed inventory records for all jewellery and gemstones
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming acquisitions from auctions, dealers, and private sellers
- Organise and manage secure storage within stockroom safes
- Conduct regular stock counts and audits to ensure data integrity
- Track and document the movement of items across locations, exhibitions, workshops, and consignments
- Ensure all items are properly labelled, catalogued, and recorded
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies with internal teams
- Prepare pieces for photography, exhibitions, restoration, shipping, and sale
- Assist with domestic and international acquisitions
- Support catalogue production and presentation processes
- Assist with gemstone identification and preliminary assessments
- Coordinate laboratory submissions for certification and reports
- Maintain records of all gemmological reports and certifications
- Support documentation of gemstones within the collection
- Liaise with dealers, suppliers, auction houses, and workshops
- Coordinate consignments, acquisitions, and stock transfers
- Manage correspondence relating to potential purchases
- Arrange and assist with jewellery viewings for clients and trade professionals
- Select and match diamonds and coloured gemstones for repairs and restoration
- Ensure consistency in cut, colour, clarity, and period-appropriate style
Skills & Experience
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience handling fine jewellery, gemstones, or luxury goods (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of diamonds and coloured gemstones (essential)
- Gemmological expertise, including identification and assessment
- Understanding of antique jewellery construction and manufacturing techniques
- Experience with inventory systems and stock management tools
- Ability to handle high-value items with care, discretion, and professionalism
- Strong communication skills across internal teams and external partners
