Berenberg’s products target a range of clients institutional and wholesale channels. There is now a need to build out the institutional sales efforts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a UK institutional sales professional with a proven track record of developing and executing a sales strategy to join Berenberg to focus on profitable new business generation from UK institutional pension funds, private and public-sector pension schemes, insurance, charities and other institutional investors.

Ideally the individual should have strong relationships with the UK corporate pension schemes and familiarity with the insurance sector. The successful candidate will need a strong network of relationships, a keen grasp of investment and the ability to operate within the UK pension and investment industry.

This role will also cover Global and local UK consultant relations so the individual should also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of and experience of having successful developed relationship with investment consultants

What will you do:

  • Further develop the institutional investors network and help drive the expansion of Berenberg Asset Management in the UK.

  • Establish and develop relationships with key prospects, demonstrating a clear understanding of the clients’ investment criteria, enabling Berenberg to be considered as a strategic partner.

  • Project manage all aspects of the sales process for any given opportunities, including assisting with RFP submissions, and providing input on sales materials.

  • Provide prospect and market feedback back into the business, enabling this intelligence to be used to generate relevant product capabilities.

  • Contribute to Berenberg’s marketing efforts, including attendance at industry conferences and events.

  • Monitor and track competitor activity.

  • Delivering exceptional service to clients.

  • Experience in asset management and significant tenure (at least 5 years) working in roles with an institutional sale focus.

  • Strong technical product and investment skills, enabling effective dialogue with consultants, analysts and client.

  • A good existing network of contacts across the UK institutional client segments.

  • Good knowledge of investment consultants – existing contact base is a plus.

  • Positive mindset and Sales-focused.

  • Proactive and enjoys taking ownership of relationships and tasks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • A good team player.

  • Strong work ethic with high levels of professionalism.

  • Professional qualifications – Investment Management Certificate (IMC) or equivalent required.
