Description & Requirements For our Research division in London we are looking to hire an Equity Research Analyst, Chemicals.

Who are we looking for?

Berenberg’s top-10-Extel-ranked chemicals team is searching for a VP candidate (3-6 years’ plus experience) to assist the team head and potentially cover stocks. The successful applicant will have:

  • High productivity: quick, accurate thinking and writing skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and enter a flow state without falling prey to distractions
  • Experience in financial modelling and valuation in Excel – an appreciation of what drives earnings up-grade and downgrade cycles, and how geopolitics moves shares
  • Helpful but not essential: experience in materials/industrials.
  • Helpful but not essential: European or Chinese language skills
  • Helpful but not essential: Python or other programming skills

What will you do?

Become the go-to person for investors in your stocks. Tasks include:

  • Conduct research on companies within the chemicals sector. Judge whether stocks are correctly valued and write timely reports explaining your reasoning.
  • Review company accounts/reports, analyse trends and news within the industry.
  • Attend company presentations, conferences, events, and meetings with company management.
  • Other tasks associated with the research function: creating/updating databases, marketing presentation etc.
