Background (BEP Group)
The Business Education Partnership (UK) Ltd, known as BEP Group is a registered charity, established in 1992.
The charity provides a work experience service and alternative education at our registered independent school for pupils in Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, Waltham Forest, Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock.
Currently we employ around 40 part- and full-time staff, across three sites:
- Romford (Main admin office and Romford school site)
- Basildon (School site) and
- Chelmsford (Work Experience team).
Alternative Education (BEP Academy)
BEP Group first started offering Alternative Education in 1999 and, in the years since, over 3,500 young people have been supported.
BEP Academy became an independent school in 2017 and was judged by Ofsted to be \’Good\’ in November 2018 and again in February 2023. The school meets all the Independent School Standards, as prescribed by Ofsted and the DfE.
The school (BEP Academy) has two sites, one in Romford (60 students) and the other in Basildon (30 students). We offer GCSEs, entry level and vocational qualifications for children to attend full-time.
Job description
Purpose
Located at our Romford site, you will be teaching GCSE Maths and/or Science to young people aged You will be working alongside the SENDCo, Teaching and Learning Manager and a group of GCSE, Entry Level and Practical Skills Tutors.
Students are referred to our alternative education programme and are often challenging (academically and/or behaviourally). You will take an active role in helping to equip students with the skills they will require to progress on to further education, an apprenticeship and work.
Key Areas
- Delivering Maths and/or Science GCSEs to small groups of students (normally a maximum of twelve)
- Support young people who have experienced challenges within mainstream school to access and fully engage with learning opportunities.
- Co-planning and developing schemes of work and lesson plans, with colleagues, that meet the needs of children in alternative provision, marking of work and assessment of coursework.
- Liaising with the SLT and prepare required reports to monitor student progress, behaviour and attendance
- Keeping up-to-date registers on attendance and progress and ensuring that information on student progress is tracked using the in-house database
- Produce individual learning plans, set appropriate targets and complete termly progress reviews for all learners
- Attend meetings with parents and referring schools as required
- Be familiar with and follow the company code of conduct for student behaviour
