Purpose of the Role

Join the Government Relations team as a Senior Government Relations Advisor, where you will lead Bentley’s policy analysis and advisory work to support the company’s strategic priorities and Beyond100+ sustainability ambitions. Working closely with the Director of Government Relations and Sustainable Luxury, you will provide expert insight on political and regulatory developments, shape Bentley’s policy positions, and support the company’s engagement with government and key stakeholders across the UK and Europe. This role plays a critical part in ensuring Bentley is well positioned to anticipate policy changes, influence key debates, and align government relations activity with the company’s long‑term business strategy.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development of Bentley’s policy positions across key areas including trade, sustainability, investment, and skills, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and industry developments.
  • Monitoring and analysing UK, regional, and European policy and regulatory developments, providing timely, strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Chairing and coordinating the cross-functional Automotive Technical Legislation Alignment Session (ATLAS) to ensure internal alignment on emerging regulatory issues affecting the automotive sector.
  • Advising internal stakeholders on political and policy developments, working collaboratively across functions to ensure government affairs activity supports wider business objectives.
  • Conducting stakeholder mapping and political analysis to identify engagement opportunities and potential policy risks.
  • Managing external agency relationships to strengthen policy insight, briefing materials, and government engagement strategies.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of VIP visits, ministerial engagement, and high‑profile external events.
  • Preparing and delivering briefings, reports, and presentations for senior internal audiences and external stakeholders.

About You – Skills And Experience

  • Strong knowledge of the UK political process and landscape, with experience of analysing policy development and its impact.
  • Strong understanding of automotive policy and legislation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience representing organisations in external settings.
  • Ability to work across multiple projects and functions, prioritising effectively and delivering aligned policy outcomes.
  • Competence in creating external policy materials, presentations and speeches.
  • Managing agency relationships.
  • Self‑starter with ability to work independently and as part of a great team – strong interpersonal skills.
  • Solutions orientated.
