As one of our Bentley apprentices, you will combine practical experience with classroom learning to achieve a Product Design & Development Engineering Degree. You will play a significant part in our business as we continue on this exciting journey to deliver extraordinary customer journeys.
Based out of our state‑of‑the‑art headquarters in Crewe, you will:
- Work with experts who will support your professional and personal development
- Be welcomed into our Early Careers Network
- Spend 20% of your time learning with an external training provider and 80% of your time gaining hands‑on experience
- Have placements and further rotations around the business

About the role
You will provide a flexible, responsive and professional trim development service to Engineering, other Business Departments and Group customers in development, build and reporting on all interior, seat and ancillary components. To provide technical expertise in all aspects of leather trimming technologies including problem solving, continuous improvement and training in support of business objectives. Multi‑skilled in application of role and operates in a safe and conscientious manner in line with business needs.
Key responsibilities
- On‑the‑job training to achieve high quality results which would include learning how to develop patterns, training on use of key machinery for the production of interior trim, and a broad overview of the manufacturing process.
- Opportunity to work cross‑functionally with different areas of the business such as engaging with various engineers to develop the best outcomes for the product also working with production to assist with any issues arising such as quality audit and general route cause analysis.
- Enhance communication skills through various different approaches such as report writing to presenting to various areas of the business.
- Drive decisions within the early stage of development to get best results which would include attending design reviews and agreeing best practice to achieve high quality output.
- Experience final product which would include drive events and comfort drives on products to sign off attributes and feeding back results to get the best outcome for the customer.
About the Department
Our core teams responsibility is to ensure that Bentley interiors are class leading within the luxury automotive sector. You could expect to learn all aspects of interior development techniques from highly skilled people. You will receive 1‑1 coaching and mentoring to achieve a recognised qualification. We are a small dedicated team who focus on delivering all aspects of interior execution to an industry leading standard and will deliver projects from early stages of design to the final production of the product, also the opportunity to be involved with one‑off and bespoke projects via our milliner department. You will have the opportunity to learn from many years of experience from skilled craftsmen with an end goal of becoming part of a winning team.
What We Are Looking For
Training Provider Entry Requirements Warwick University Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4/C or above
- 112 UCAS tariff points. Applicants must also hold GCSE grades in Maths, English and additional STEM subject at grades C (or 4) or above.
- Disciplines studied post GCSE must include any of Engineering or relevant STEM subjects (Physics recommended).
- In addition to the required entry tariff, applicants must have also achieved an A level in Maths at Grade B.
- T Levels: At the moment we don’t accept T levels (this is subject to constant review by the University).
