Purpose of the Role
Join the Finance team as a Financial Accountant, where you’ll take ownership of core financial processes including monthly and year-end accounts, strategic project accounting, and robust financial control. In this pivotal role, you’ll help drive Bentley’s Beyond100+ strategy by delivering accurate, compliant, and insightful financial information that supports confident decision‑making across the business, regulatory bodies, and the wider Volkswagen Group. You’ll be instrumental in upholding the highest accounting standards, strengthening governance, and developing high‑performing Finance teams—ensuring finance remains a trusted partner in Bentley’s journey toward sustainable luxury and long‑term success.
Main Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of accurate, compliant monthly and year-end financial results, including statutory accounts, VW / Audi Group reporting, and coordination of external audits with strong balance sheet governance.
- Providing expert judgement on complex accounting matters, interpreting standards, setting appropriate accounting treatments, and confidently justifying positions to auditors and Volkswagen & Audi stakeholders.
- Partnering with the business to challenge and support site strategy projects, ensuring optimal consideration of grants, tax incentives, lease accounting, and correct financial treatment throughout implementation.
- Owning specialist reporting areas including pensions and hedging, working closely with actuaries, auditors, sustainability teams and VW / Audi experts to deliver timely, accurate, and fully compliant disclosures.
- Driving continuous improvement of financial accounting processes, strengthening key controls, improving efficiency, and enhancing the quality and insight of financial reporting.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to Finance process owners, guiding new process implementations and leading digital transformation across the financial reporting landscape in line with best practice.
- Ensuring full compliance with accounting standards, legislation, and financial control requirements, proactively managing risk and governance obligations.
- Developing and coaching Finance team members, supporting capability building, balance sheet reviews, GRNI analysis, and cross‑functional improvement initiatives.

About You – Skills and Experience
- Experience of financial accounting processes and reporting is essential.
- Current or previous work experience as a Financial Accountant or Chartered Accountant within one of the Big Four (PwC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG).
- Advanced level knowledge of accounting systems combined with intermediate level of understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
- Demonstrable experience building strong, collaborative relationships cross functionally with a broad range of stakeholders up to and including Board level.
- Strong analytical skills with experience extracting meaningful insights to influence business decisions.
- Understanding of developing ESG reporting frameworks.
- Experience working in a business that has a turnover of or in excess of 1 billion GDP or EUR.
