Purpose of the Role: Join the Energy Systems team as the Engineer – Energy Management where you'll be instrumental in the development, integration, validation, and sign-off of Low & Medium Voltage Systems. Reporting into the Functional Manager – Energy Systems, your main responsibilities include:
- Develop, integrate and validate software, both on and off vehicle, in accordance with software management processes.
- Integrate and validate platform changes on Bentley projects.
- Work cross-functionally across all Engineering R&D departments to deliver vehicle, customer and legislative requirements.
- Support the development of functions, networking and communications between ECUs.
- Work in partnership with hardware owners in accordance with the Bentley Product Emergence Process.
- Provide relevant information to Production, Aftersales, Logistics, Purchase and Project management.
- Manage suppliers and coordinate with VW Group Engineers to deliver fully functional systems for Bentley.
About The Team: The Energy Systems Department in Electrical & Electronic Engineering delivers the energy platform for our conventional and electric drive products. We develop low (12V), medium (48V), and high voltage (400V+) systems, functions (including energy management of the buses), and components. Also part of the team is Thermal Management Electronics (including HVAC systems) which control the cooling of the electric drive components and also as high power consumers; we have the full envelope of energy management and cooling control in one team. The work we do is central to Bentley’s Beyond 100 Strategy+, delivering the architecture, hardware, and software to power our PHEV and future BEV products.
About You – Skills And Experience:
- Strong understanding of vehicle Low & Medium Voltage Systems and components, including energy management software functions.
- Understanding of high voltage systems and their interaction with low & medium voltage systems.
- Experience with CAN, Flexray and LIN bus systems.
- Experience with Vector Tools – CANape, CANoe, CANanalyser, INCA and Diagra, NI Labview and Diadem.
- Understand how to use Vehicle Diagnostic tools (ODIS, IDEX) to support root cause investigation work.
- Electronic/electrical fault finding and problem-solving.
- Understanding of software development.
- Understand Functional Safety and Golden Rules processes, including familiarity of supporting tools: SCD, FAHST, DMS.
- An Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience.
