The predicted salary is between 13 - 17 £ per hour.
The purpose of the role is to lead improvements to maximise safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. The post holder will help patients to get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed and approved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in general practices, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk, and aiming to reduce wasted medicines. The Pharmacy Technician will work under the supervision of the Primary Care Network (PCN) Pharmacist.
You will be based in Bentley Medical Practice, Redcar, however there may be times when you are required to work across the local member practices of Redcar Coastal Primary Care Network. We can be flexible with the hours for the role and are happy to consider any hours up to 37.5 per week with mutually convenient working days.
Main duties of the job:- Support the role of the Clinical Pharmacist at GP practice level on the delivery of the Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice model.
- Support the Clinical Pharmacist in Structured Medication Reviews (SMR).
- Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use.
- Assist in the delivery of medicines optimisation and management incentive schemes and patient safety audits.
- Support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within the GP practice and care homes.
- Carry out medicine's optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration.
- Utilise consultation skills to work in partnership with patients.
- Carry out housekeeping whilst in patient records.
- Promotion of electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering.
- Report on key performance indicators for CPGP.
- Use and maintain information systems and databases relevant to the position.
- Work closely with the PCN Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice lead.
- Participate in practice meetings and patient participation groups.
- Liaise with other pharmacy stakeholders.
- Support the Medicines Optimisation team in the delivery of the Medicines Optimisation strategy.
- Handle function specific information appropriately.
- Be responsible for the organisation and planning of own workload.
- Undertake, participate and share the outcomes of clinical audits.
- Ensure that all major MHRA drug alerts are acted upon.
- Assist in the monitoring of prescribing expenditure at individual practice level.
- Undertake learning and development to ensure the required knowledge and skills.
- Carry out other duties appropriate to the skills and competencies of the post holder.
- Qualifications: Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician, Medicines reconciliation certificate or equivalent.
- Experience: Experience of prescribing/clinical systems such as SystmOne and EMIS Web, recent previous experience within comparable role in General Practice.
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Depending on experience, up to £17.30 per hour dependent on experience.
