What you’ll get:

  • Competitive salary plus performance‑related bonus
  • Mon‑Fri working patterns available with rota stability and minimal weekend cover only where operationally necessary
  • Pension scheme provided by Legal & General
  • Life Assurance and access to Medicash for health and wellbeing support
  • Employee discounts on products and services
  • Comprehensive training, leadership development and clear career progression pathways

The role:

  • Lead site‑wide warehouse and transport operations, ensuring targets for productivity, OTIF, quality and cost are achieved
  • Manage and develop supervisors, warehouse operatives, drivers and temporary staff to create a high‑performing and safety‑conscious team
  • Plan resource and capacity across shifts, balancing workload, vehicle utilisation and customer delivery commitments
  • Oversee despatch, returns and distribution activities, working closely with planners to optimise routes and schedules
  • Monitor and report on key operational KPIs (throughput, OTIF, shrinkage, vehicle utilisation), producing concise management reports and action plans
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, transport regulations and company procedures, including driver licence and tachograph checks, vehicle defect reporting and safe systems of work
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and transport processes to increase efficiency, reduce cost and enhance customer experience
  • Manage recruitment, induction and training; conduct performance conversations, coaching and development activity to retain and grow talent
  • Resolve operational issues and customer escalations promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Maintain accurate records using warehouse management systems (WMS), transport management systems (TMS) and handheld devices to control stock and movements

Who we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience leading warehouse and transport operations at site or regional level, with staff management responsibility
  • Strong operational planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to perform under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of transport legislation, driver hours rules and vehicle safety requirements
  • Confident user of IT systems including Microsoft Office; experience of WMS/TMS and handheld devices desirable
  • Excellent communication and people management skills with a collaborative, coaching approach
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement and cost control
  • Practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to support operational activity when required
  • Flexible and resilient, prepared to support business continuity and occasional out‑of‑hours incidents

Working hours, location and flexibility:

  • Full‑time role working set shifts; pattern to be agreed to meet operational needs (days/early/late)
  • Based at our regional warehouse and transport hub with occasional travel between sites
  • Some out‑of‑hours contact may be required for critical incidents and business continuity

Benefits of joining our team:

  • Competitive salary and bonus opportunities
  • Medicash cashback scheme for health and wellbeing support
  • Unum Income Protection and Group Life Assurance
  • Pension scheme and employee discounts
  • Learning and development programmes and clear internal progression pathways
  • Recognition and reward schemes including long service awards
