Job Description:
Bensons for Beds is looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our Product team located at our Manufacturing site in Huntingdon.
This role is to manage our existing products and develop new products to an agreed set of parameters that include:
- Design to price point / margin objectives
- Design for manufacture
- Appropriate Brand recognition
- Accurate Labour & Material Structure
- Product accreditation & test standards
So, what will you do?
As a Product Development Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to reduce the complexity of products to optimise the number of SKU’s and product variety, as well as producing requisite samples to support the following:
- New product introduction
- Value Engineering / Cost Reductions
- Prepare and Maintain Engineering Documentation such as Specifications
- Improved product performance
- Use of new innovative materials
- Product simplification / standardisation
- To match testing criteria’s
- Presentations / Exhibitions
You will also:
- Maintenance of testing for new products prior to the new product launch (FR/Durability)
- To manage the process of tick control including sample requirements (to a set of procedures agreed with the Product Development Manager & Production Manager.
- To control revision level documentation related to product specifications on the network drive.
