Are you an experienced Senior Masterplanner and Urban Designer with an innovative portfolio? Are you seeking to make a significant contribution to the growth of our studio and a range of UK and global projects? We are looking for a creative professional with 8-10 years post qualification experience and strong collaborative ethos to join our Masterplanning and Urban Design team.

As a Senior Masterplanner and Urban Designer, you will be responsible for the development of diverse masterplanning, urban design, placemaking and public realm projects across multiple locations in the UK and internationally. Your unique project experience and excellent people management skills will be key to inspire and mentor junior members of our team. This role requires strong conceptual and urban strategic thinking, as well as in-depth best‑practice knowledge and skill in city and regional development, mixed‑use and residential masterplanning, urban design guidelines and development frameworks.

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or Landscape Architecture and an MA in Urban Design (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in leading a wide range of projects, including urban development and regeneration, residential‑led mixed‑use masterplanning, public realm and place‑led infrastructural and transport solutions.
  • Project experience across the UK, Middle East, The Americas, Asia and Africa.
  • A deep interest and curiosity in the process of designing and planning sustainable and vibrant urban environments.
  • Passion for design and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced working environment requiring you to demonstrate initiative, creativity, integrity and self‑sufficiency.
  • Result‑driven personality, capable of coordinating and leading projects with limited supervision.
  • Confidence in presenting to coordinating and liaising with clients and consultants.
  • Advanced software skills, and are highly proficient in at least four of the following (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, GIS software, CityEngine)

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead for assigned masterplanning and urban design projects, managing both internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of commissions from concept through to detailed stages.
  • Design independently and as part of a wider team, understanding the full complexities of the urban design process requiring to integrate transport, economics, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, etc.
  • Champion of Benoy’s values and contribution to a collaborative environment in which innovation is encouraged and best practice shared.
  • Build a network across the business and seek leadership opportunities by directing and supporting junior team members.
  • Make a positive contribution towards project meetings and client presentations.
  • Working understanding of project cost control, fee estimation and project finance, and of how project fees are maximised without threat to client relationship and repeat work.
  • Develop a working understanding of business development and marketing across Benoy.
