The Associate Director, Delivery Interior Designer leads and inspires a team in the London studio to ensure that innovative and thought-provoking projects achieve high quality design standards and are delivered on time and on budget. Responsible for the design through to construction, they operate autonomously, requiring only minimal supervision from the Senior Associate/Director. This is a one-year fixed-term role where you will also be responsible for supporting junior colleagues to achieve their full potential. Not only do they support the delivery of corporate level business development strategies, but they actively contribute towards the development of leads and generation of new business across existing and future sectors and markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight & Design Management: Lead the delivery of Interior design/architectural projects, from design through construction, ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate with project managers, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the project. Monitor project progress and identify any risks or issues that could impact the delivery schedule or quality. Provide design leadership during all stages of project delivery, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.
- Design Development & Execution: Review and approve detailed Interior/architectural plans, drawings, and models, ensuring that designs meet client requirements and regulatory standards. Ensure that the design intent is maintained throughout the project, particularly during the construction phase. Have the ability to produce technical details to resolve contractor RFI’s. Review and present materiality with the understanding of late value engineering requests.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle. Communicate design concepts, project updates, and any changes to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and managing expectations. Lead client meetings, presentations, and reviews to ensure alignment on the project vision and goals. Address and resolve client concerns and questions, ensuring that the final delivery meets or exceeds expectations. Lead a multidisciplinary team of architects, designers, engineers, and construction professionals to deliver high-quality projects on time. Facilitate coordination between all team members and external contractors or consultants to ensure a unified approach to project delivery.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure that all design and construction work meet regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices. Conduct site visits to monitor quality control and ensure compliance with the design and specifications. Address any issues or deviations from the original design promptly, adjusting plans as necessary to maintain project integrity.
- Budget & Timeline Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring that the project remains within financial constraints while still achieving the desired design outcomes. Work with project managers to create realistic timelines and ensure deadlines are met. Approve or recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising the overall design or quality of the project.
- Post-Completion Evaluation: Ensure that the final delivered project meets all design goals, is completed on time, and meets client satisfaction. Conduct post-project evaluations and debriefs to assess project outcomes and identify opportunities for process improvement. Oversee the handover of project documentation and support clients with any post-completion needs.
About You Skills & Experience Required:
- A strong Revit user with ability to lead coordination of large multi-discipline shared models and assist in the organisation and production of interior detail design drawing packages, undertake clash detection and direct sub-consultants.
- A strong presenter, able to engage with clients and develop opportunities for new work.
- Commercially astute, demonstrated through effective decision making and project resourcing.
- Strong organisational and people management skills, encouraging collaboration and innovation within their teams to maximise performance.
- Possesses proficiency with computer applications commonly used within the individual’s discipline.
- Degree in related design field or equivalent certification or skill level.
- Has worked on large scale fit-out projects onsite through to completion/Handover.
- Has excellent knowledge of fit-out construction and technical detailing.
- Has strong communication skills to manage delivery teams onsite together with conflict resolution techniques.
- Have the ability to produce technical details to resolve contractor RFI’s.
